CAT COMPETITION
A separate
prize of $5,000 will be awarded for a winning image of a mountain lion, jaguarandi
or ocelot. Special rules apply. RARE
CAT AWARD The goal of the Rare Cat Award is to reward photographers for
their persistence, patience and dedication in creating cover-quality images of
three specific predators found in South Texas: Mountain Lion, Ocelot and Jaguarundi.
The award exists also to reward private landowners that retain, maintain and enhance
the native habitat these wonderful animals require to exist. One of the benefits
to wildlife is that private landowners will be rewarded for having these three
species animals, thus focusing economics on their existence. Also, the public
may get to view extraordinary images of these three seldom seen species in their
natural, wild setting.
ELIGIBILITY - Any
photographer registered in the South Texas Shootout is eligible to compete for
the Rare Cat Award. Any photographer registered in the Small Tract Competition
and who has paid the separate Rare Cat Award entry fee prior to February 29, 2008,
is eligible to compete for the Rare Cat Award. Provided that his/her Landowner
has also paid the separate Rare Cat Award entry fee.
- Image(s)
must contain one or more of the wild cats in our Rare Cat Award categories: Mountain
Lion, Ocelot, and Jaguarundi.
-
The Valley Land Fund reserves the right to require a polygraph test of the photographer
and/or landowner(s) before the money is paid.
- The
Valley Land Fund may require an inspection of the exact location where the image(s)
were made.
